Fingerling production

Fingerling production

We perform the entire cycle in RAS, through which we have complete control and biosecurity. This ensures us to deliver qualitative fingerlings to our customers. Throughout the years, we have developed reliable protocols, giving us consistent and satisfactory results. Therefore we can garuantee our customers with a stable quality and quantity of fingerlings.

1. Reproduction:

Burbot reproduces around december to january during water temperature of 0 - 4°C.  Following fertilisation, the eggs are incubated for 1 to 1.5 month.

Aqualota has it's own broodstock selected from offspring from major river systems. For reintroduction, we use autochtonous wild fish. We do not use hormones or any chemicals in order to obtain succesful reproduction

2. Larval rearing and fingerling production

The fingerling production takes place from march to april until september. Following a prolonged period of feeding with zooplankton, the fish are weaned onto a dryfeed. At the size of 10 cm, the fish are being sold.

During the rearing of the fingerlings we pay the utmost care on the optimal husbandry conditions, resulting in qualitative, fast growing and healthy fish.

Aqualota not only provides burbot fingerlings, but also gives professional advise to its customers and guides them through the entire production period on different aspects such as RAS systems, husbandry conditions and feeding scedules.
